Book Coaching

Using brain science hacks, this book dragon helps sci-fi and fantasy authors get the stories in their heads on the page and ready to enchant their readers.

Stop only writing epic opening scenes and start finishing the whole book.

You can do it.

And having a book dragon at your back will help.

Your book is yours alone. But you don't have to write it without support.

You have an epic idea or even an opening for your sci-fi or fantasy novel. Maybe you have a partial or rough draft.

But you got stuck (or maybe you haven’t actually managed to start writing it yet…).

You know you should be able to see it through to the ending. You’re a good writer. You know a good story when you read one.

Yet it’s hard to find the time, or, when you do, it’s hard to know where to go next when it comes to your own story idea.

Amazing scenes and gut-punching moments are all in your mind in flashes and pieces. Why won’t they just fuse together properly? How is it so hard to just get the book written?

Nothing is wrong with you. Writing a great story is simply hard. You (and I included) make all these excuses or think you need to wait until you’re “good enough” to write the story you really want to write.

Sometimes there’s a valid reason for waiting, but most of the time it’s just an excuse. Your real fear might be the vulnerability of putting your hard work out there, not feeling like a real writer (imposter syndrome), or a fear of failing.

This book dragon can help you battle those fortifications in your head. With me, you have the benefit of a dragon’s-eye view of your project to guide you in your next steps on a clearer path to publication (indie or traditional). I can provide feedback as you write (with years of hoarded craft knowledge to back it up) and deadlines to keep you on track.

You could write alone, but wouldn't you have a (mostly friendly) support dragon with you if you could?

Here's how one of my coaching clients answered that question:

“Before working with Gina, I felt a little lost and knew that my raw work was missing something. I knew the story was interesting, but the execution left something to be desired. From the first moment I began asking for quotes from editors, I knew that Gina was the one. I read her profile and it resonated with me. I knew that we would get along great, and I made the leap into the flames.
“What I most enjoyed about the coaching experience was the 30-minute calls. They were a great learning opportunity, and I discovered so many ideas by just talking them out together. This coaching and [earlier] developmental edits were the best things I have ever done for myself as a writer. After being coached, I'm excited about my writing because I have improved as a writer and as a reader by following the advice given to me during coaching. It was enough to light the fire in my soul to keep going when I was afraid to do so on my own.
“Gina is honestly the best editor I've ever met. She's kind and knowledgeable. She gives resources of all kinds that are tailored specifically to your needs and she gives advice and suggestions based on where YOU want to take the story. [The feedback] was not only helpful and easy to accept, but also sometimes had an edge of humor that I appreciated. Gina knows exactly how to deliver feedback so that it isn't a personal attack or discouraging at all. I never felt bad about what she wrote to me unlike my experience with most other editors who made my work feel subpar along the way. She was a pleasure to work with because she speaks of relevant topics and also listens to ideas and helps to refine them. Hiring Gina to work with me was the best decision I've ever made for myself as a writer that hopes to publish. In the end, you get what you pay for and Gina's help was worth every single penny."
